Day 5: St Lucia
This was the first thing I saw outside my window when I woke up.
It is the original ship in the Pirates of the Caribbean.
That is so cool!
We met Herod in St. Lucia who took us on a fantastic sea and land excursion.

Cameron asked him every question in the book - Herod sure knew his stuff.
We went along the coast passing humble, yet lovely fishing villages and beautiful beach resorts.
Yes, the water was this clear.
This is the island where The Bachelor was filmed.
The only reason I knew that was because I happen to catch the last 15 minutes of an episode on the cruise. Watching a man two-time two girls knowing full well he was going to break one of their hearts was on the top of my to-do list.

Petit Piton and Gros Piton are twin volcanic cones.
These lush mountains are 40 million years old.
The crevice in this mountain houses thousands and thousands of fruit bats.

Herod then took us to dock to so some site seeing.
First stop was a hike to the Toraille Waterfalls.
The water comes from hot springs out of a volcano.

Our next trip was a drive to Mount Soufriere - the famous 'drive - in' volcano and then a hike uphill with park rangers.
The last major volcanic eruption in St Lucia occurred about 40,000 years ago and the last minor one was in 1780. To this day this volcanic pit continues to vent sulfur into the air and heat pools of water above boiling. The sulfur, which was even mined and 760 tons exported in the 1830s, is the source of the name of the nearby town of Soufrière.
The streets are this wide narrow.
We loaded the boat and Herod took us to Jalousie Beach.
It was breathtaking.
The snorkeling topped all snorkel adventures!
Cameron thought these crater things were the coolest.
