Familia Fun

Lico and Lica's visit this summer....

Downstairs in our home we have a guest room for all those that dare visit the Jensenite family. We love to play host and invite all that will partake.
The guest room is actually called 'Lico and Lica's Room'. We love it when Lico and Lica visit us from Virginia.

Celebrating my Abuelita's 87th birthday with three pinatas.

Okay, here's the bona fide truth on her age. In a nutshell, according to two reliable sources (my aunt and my mom), my Abuelita is really 97 years old! Whoah! How did that happen? My Abuelita grew up in a small village in Chile where priests visited every few years to record deaths, births and marriages. Sometimes the priest wouldn't show up for years and when he did, he recorded the children's birth the year he visited even if the child was a few years old. My Abuelita was about 10 years old when a priest finally showed up to take the village census.
She just made herself 10 years younger - hey, it's in the records.
How cool it that?

Disclaimer: this really is just a joke in the family, however, there is some truth to the story. How much? We may never know.

Abuelita gathering candy after hitting her very own pinata.
Doesn't she look amazing for being 87 years old? Shhhh...97 years old.

So much sugar!

Jarin

La La

My cute squirt.

My cute hubby.

My cute daddy.

We love spending time with Lico and Lica.
We miss you and love you!

New Additions

Two new nephews for me and two new cousins for the kids.

#1 Welcome Alexander to my sister Adriana and Uncle Mikey.

Proud parents of their long awaited bundle of joy!

Jarin adores babies.

Oh, I can't wait to play with his little piggy toes.

#2 Welcome Aeson to my brother Andres and Kylee.

He looks just like his two year old brother - Aden.
The double trouble fun those two will be - hee hee.

Camping #1

Hobble Creek Camping
The day school got out, we grabbed our stuff and took off on our first camping trip for the summer. It was just the seven of us, an empty campground all to ourselves and a million little caterpillars hanging off the trees. We just relaxed and had fun.

With no residents around, we were able to practice our shooting skills at paper plates and pop cans.

Nice stance!

Camping means lots of junk and pop!
Sorry Trev, the DP belongs to Dad.

The warning signs of bears around the campgrounds were a little unnerving.
Our hikes were short and sweet.

Camping #2

Fairview Canyon Camping Trip

We went camping with the Okies - they are such wonderful friends that they are more like family.
Cameron and Jason have been best friends since the good old days of high school. They shared the glory days of being North Sevier's basketball starters and went to the top.

2009
Makayla and Brynn - such beautiful young women.

1999
Makayla and Brynn on our first camping trip.
Oh, how time flies.

It's not obvious who our true colors belong too - is it?
Porter and Jarin

We took a road trip and ended up in Scofield. This brought back good old fifth grade memories. In Alpine School District, the fifth graders have the opportunity to spend a week at the Clear Creek Camp just up the road a mile or two of Scofield. I went in fifth grade and Makayla did too - Jarin will go next summer. I just love that my kids will have the same childhood memories as I do.

Part of the Clear Creek summer camp is to hike to the remains of Winter Quarters and hear the ghost stories of the mining town - it fascinated me then as it does now.

Scofield Cemetery
The beauty and reverence of past lives now buried in old grave yards have always allured me.
The kids felt it too as they found many graves marked in the early 1900's baring young names.

The majority of the miners lost in the Scolfield mine disaster are
represented by the tablets pictured.
The new wood tablet stands next to the 109 year old tablet.

Even the old vehicle left on the side yard intrigues me.

Scofield's School House

I would love to know the history of this homestead.

We attempted to fish - no bites - it was still fun.

Trevor cast the line so powerfully, he ended up throwing himself over the boardwalk.

The four musketeers.
Kerri - Rebekah - Cambree - Laynee

Kitchen duty for naughty boys who shoot birds with BB guns.

Boys will be boys I was told - but still....little birds?

AF Canyon Camping Trip

We went camping the last weekend before school started with some great neighbors and had a splendid time.
It rained a lot - as a result - no pictures.

Mom's Monster Voice

Each night I go to bed pledging to be a better mother the next day. Each morning I arise with a similar prayer to keep my monster voice tapped. Then morning breakfast happens.....

Why children can't wake up happy to be alive is beyond me. After the bugle sound is called, five droopy kids haul their bodies out of bed, eyes still glued shut from sleep, into the kitchen.

Then it begins.
One sibling realizes to his astonishment that he is sitting way too close to a girl sibling and complains. Another grumbles that he can hear the others chomping on their food. He proceeds to build a sound proof barricade out of cereal boxes to protect his ears. One can't stand the smell of Cheerios and whines until she is asked to MOVE to the table. Another child places her feet on private property and is stunned when she is whacked by a beloved brother. Finally, the teenager, who can't tolerate it any more than her mom, slurps her last bite, washes her bowl and backs away.

Just as the monster voice is unleashed - I watch with envy as the teenager retreats to the safety of her solitude.

(Sigh)

The proper arrangement (for the moment) after
playing multiple musical chairs.

Kerri (yes, I know she is wearing pink, nonetheless, it is Kerri)
can smell Cheerios a mile away and gags every time - joy!

Summer Dance

When two neighbor girls came knocking at my door offering their skills to teach dance lessons for the summer - I had to look into all of my options....
-competitive prices
-no hidden dance outfit fees
-three blocks away
-1 whole hour - twice a week

It was a done deal!

For the month of June, Rebekah and Kerri rode their bikes to dance class and came home twirling, whirling and leaping.

Summer Recital
This video is chiefly presented to Grandma and Lica - whom we all know will treasure every grandchild's dance movement - it's a really cute recital.
