Road Trip Day 2

1.  It's a great feeling to watch your kids pack and help load the Suburban on their own.
2.  Kept an eye out for 'road art'.

3.  Stopped off at the Lewis and Clark Missouri River Basin Visitors Center in Nebraska City, NE for lunch (peanut butter and banana tortilla roll-ups) and a little leg room.  This was the first time the kids felt the humidity and murmured loudly.

4.  Visited the LDS Visitor Center in Independence, MI and watched the new Joseph Smith Movie.

A discovery of Church sites in Missouri begins at the Independence Visitors’ Center. This center honors both past and present with exhibits depicting experiences of Mormon settlers in Missouri between 1831 and 1839. There are also exhibits about the importance of families, the Book of Mormon, and messages from modern prophets. (LDS Church History)

5.  Viewed the spiral temple of the Community of Christ.


Community of Christ Temple

The Community of Christ Temple is dedicated to the pursuit of peace. This sacred space offers special opportunity for encounter with the Divine. The Temple and Auditorium house the denomination's International Headquarters for more than 250,000 members in more than 50 nations. The church's mission is to "proclaim Jesus Christ and promote communities of joy, hope, love, and peace."

The Temple architecture was inspired by the spiral of the nautilus shell and is a design familiar to all cultures. Open to all people, the Temple stands as a witness to years of prayer, study, and sacrifice by people wanting to understand God's intent for humankind. (Community of Christ)

6.  Stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Missouri and ate sandwiches - I think.

The kids think it would be way cool to decorate our Suburban like this for the rest of the trip.
